MG Windsor has again become India’s bestselling four-wheelers electric vehicle (EV) in November 2024.
Until last year, Tata Motors had a monopoly in the electric passenger vehicle market. With the advent of JSW MG Windsor, the competition in the EV space is gradually heating up.
Windsor has replaced the Tata Nexon EV as the No. 1 selling electric vehicle in the country.
November Sales Data
The very recently launched MG Windsor, ‘India’s first intelligent CUV’, as coined by MG Motors India, registered a total sale of 3144 units in the past month.
It accounts for nearly 70 percent of the total car sales of that particular month. This marks a significant milestone for MG Motors in the competitive Indian EV market.
This is the second time that Windsor has secured the top sales chart in India. In October 2024, MG sold total 3116 units of Windsor.
MG Windsor Models
MG Windsor model comes with three variants which are Windsor EV Excite, Windsor EV Exclusive and Windsor EV Essence.
Windsor EV price starts at INR 13.49 lakh and goes up to INR 15.50 lakh.
But you can get it at INR 9.99 lakh if you opt for MG’s ‘Battery-As-Service’ (BAAS) program.
BAAS Program
The BAAS program allows buyers to purchase Windsor EV at a lower upfront initial cost.
It excludes battery cost and the buyers pay for the battery on a pay-per-usage model, which starts from ₹3.5 per km (excluding charging cost).
However, it attracts a higher GST rate for the battery rental service.
The MG Windsor EV is a five-seater CUV. It comes with a 38-kWh battery pack with a lifetime battery warranty and has a claimed range of 331 km.
Fast Charging
Moreover, MG Windsor EV has free public charging for 1 year.
Interestingly, the Windsor battery pack takes only 55 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent at a peak charging rate.
With 3.3 kWh and 7.7 kWh chargers, it takes almost 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively for charging from 0 to 100 percent.
MG Windsor Motor
MG offers a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor setup on the Windsor, which produces a maximum of 136 hp and 200 torque (NM).
