The Bharat Global Mobility Expo 2025, India’s biggest auto expo, is going to witness the debut of another electric SUV from the Chinese NEV (New Energy Vehicle) manufacturer company BYD – the Sealion 7 EV. The BYD Sealion 7 has already entered China and some European markets.
The Sealion 7 EV will be BYD’s 4th offering in India. Designed by BYD’s global design director, Wolfgang Eggar, the Sealion 7 passenger EV is anticipated to hit India’s booming EV space by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Along with the launch of BYD’s latest performance e-SUV in the 2025 Auto Expo – the Sealion 7, the company also plans to expand its auto-dealership network in India from 27 to 40 locations by the end of January 2025.

BYD Sealion 7: Exterior
The exterior design of the BYD Sealion 7 will be almost similar to Brand’s BYD Seal model that was introduced in India in March 2024. The Sealion 7 can get a sleek, aerodynamic design with sharp LED headlights, a front Grill, a blanked-out rear bumper, tail lamps with pixelated elements, flush-type door handles and a one-touch open/close tailgate that operates with a command of simple foot gesture. It will come equipped with large sporty alloy wheels adding to its rugged yet refined look.

BYD Sealion 7: Interior and comfort features
It is presumed that the interior of the Sealion 7 will be luxuriously crafted with high-quality materials Including leather upholstery, ventilated and power-adjustable seats, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. The 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system offers seamless connectivity, navigation and entertainment.
The SUV can also come with 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, 10.25-inch LCD digital driver’s display, a head-up display, dual-zone air-conditioning, 12 speakers DYNAUDIO sound system, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology to supply power to external devices and sufficient cargo space with foldable seats.
BYD Sealion 7: Safety and security features
The Sealion 7 can come with robust safety and security features with features like front and side passenger airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, dual-stage pretensioners on front seatbelts, seat belt reminder, 360-degree camera and child safety features.
The driver-assistance system offers advanced features like a parking sensor, collision warning, traffic jam assistance, Intelligent cruise control, speed limit information, blind spot detection, door open warning, high beam assistance, driver attention warning and advanced power braking.
BYD Sealion 7: Battery and engine specifications
BYD claims the Blade Battery is one of the safest EV batteries designed to maximize range, strength and life cycle. The battery uses lithium iron phosphate as its raw material.
The international-spec BYD Sealion 7 is equipped with an 82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh battery sizes. BYD offers blade-battery technology that is integrated into the vehicle’s structure, enhancing the strength and rigidity. The 82.5 kWh battery pack provides both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain options with a range of 482 km and 456 km respectively on single full charge.
The 91.3 kWh battery pack comes with AWD variant with an impressive range of 502 km. While the RWD variant delivers 308bhp of power and 380Nm of torque, the AWD variant generates 523bhp and 690Nm of torque.
